Sainik School East Siang has a unique curriculum system and follows CBSE curriculum.

Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE)

The Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) envisions a robust, vibrant and holistic school education that will engender excellence in every sphere of human endeavour. The Board is committed to providing quality education to promote intellectual, social and cultural vivacity among its learners.

CBSE not only imparts quality knowledge to the Risers but also ensure overall physical and mental growth. Since CBSE is the national board of India, the educational material and teaching methodology is conducive to the national interests of the country. Sainik School East Siang at present offers CBSE up to grade 08. It aims to expand into grade 09, 10, 11 & 12 in a subsequent year’s time.

Every Riser goes through a process of participative learning, acquiring knowledge as they color their individual canvas to get an identity of their own at every stage of school years. Risers are groomed to become individuals having the capability to face the challenges of the world waiting to welcome them.
The prefectural system helps our Risers to uphold the team spirit as they chisel leadership skills, much beyond the limited boundaries of clan, community, religion and ethnicity.

In order to achieve overall growth and development of the child, Curriculum focuses on 6 major domains in the early years development, providing equal weightage to each of them. This includes: Language and literacy, Critical thinking and problem solving, Knowledge and Understanding, Physical and motor, Social and emotional & Art, music and design. The development of each and every child is monitored continuously based on each of these domains ensuring the child is met with the age wise developmental milestones. Curriculum ensures to meet the requirements of the Risers facing the developmental delay through specially designed activities incorporated throughout the content areas.

Flipped Learning

A flipped classroom is an instructional strategy and a type of blended learning that reverses the traditional learning environment by delivering instructional content online. It moves activities, including those that may have traditionally been considered homework, into the classroom. At Sainik School East Siang Google Classroom is used to facilitate flipped learning. This provides Risers with a contemporary learning environment which offers flexibility and opportunities for collaboration, independence and connectivity to global resources. Teachers flip the classroom and create environment for discussion and deliberations on various topics. Teachers also easily manage Risers works through the classroom. In order to enable flipped learning each Risers carries a laptop equipped with all the necessary tools.

Experiential Learning

At Sainik School East Siang, we believe the concept of learning goes beyond classrooms. It is a continuous and life long process. To help Risers have a deeper understanding of concepts, we focus on experiential learning as opposed to the traditional emphasis on outcomes. Experiential learning or learning by doing is an ancient concept but the modern theory as developed by David A Kolb defines learning as “the process whereby knowledge is created through the transformation of experience.” This model consists of four iterative steps to ensure continuous learning and relearning. Risers first gain experience based on activity or environmental observations. These experiences are the bases of reflections that further help develop an understanding of concepts. The concepts are then applied to different contexts thereby creating a new experience for ongoing learning. In congruence with experiential learning, our Risers are exposed to both field-based and classroom-based experiential learning. Some of the prominent forms are field trips, laboratory practicals, role plays, simulations, different types of group activities and many more. Implementation of experiential learning has been helping our Risers to learn differently and faster while being more engaged and focused in classrooms. It has also helped constantly hone their intellectual, emotional and social skills.

Mind map

Mind map is a management tool often used for planning, brainstorming and consolidating information. At Sainik School East Siang, mind mapping is used as a teaching learning tool. Mind maps are used in the classroom to reiterate topics to Risers and jot down the key takeaway from lessons. This makes it easy for Risers to get a complete view of the lesson at one glance and review the key points quickly. Teachers at Sainik School East Siang, on the other hand, use mind map as a lesson planning tool.
