Our vision has led us to adopt a pervasive and learner-centric teaching methodology that focuses on an Explore – Experience – Implement model of learning that is practiced at all levels of the organisation
Step one of learning starts with exploration. The neurons in the brain of young Risers are connecting at a furious pace and need stimulation from the five senses. In this stage learning is based on hands on experiences that lead to thinking and logical skills. Exploring ideas, thoughts, shaping and reshaping projects are all integral aspects of this stage. For a learning based project it is important that Risers immerse in the idea and concept to explore it from all angles. Our model helps support this exploration in Risers
Stage two of learning is shaped with experience. Having already explored with the senses, in this stage Risers connect that exploration with past knowledge and create their thoughts and shape their ideas that leads to knowledge and understanding of the world around them. Analyzing, optimizing, restructuring are some of the high end pre-frontal skills developed at this stage. John Dewey’s model of “Project Based Learning” along with Jean Piaget’s “Cognitive Learning Theory” are incorporated at this stage to help Risers experience knowledge with understanding.
Stage three of learning, ‘implementation’, is the goal of all education. Knowledge is not complete unless it is applied and used to bring about change both in the individual and the society. At this stage Risers are encouraged to implement their ideas and bring about a change in their practice and their thinking. Implementation also helps the Risers understand ‘what works’ and ‘what does not work’ so that they can work on restructuring and redesigning the idea to suit the needs of the project. At the implementation stage Risers are encouraged to be independent and experience opportunities of success that help define their self-worth and self-esteem.
Curriculum and Content Development is at the core of Sainik School East Siang. The team specializes in creating curriculum and content based on the guidelines of CBSE.
The Curriculum and Content Team provides a wide range of academic solutions to schools, within and outside the school.
The SSES System of Education values the Riser as a strong, capable and resilient individual, rich with wonder and knowledge. Every Riser brings with him deep curiosity and potential and this innate curiosity drives his interest to understand the world and his place within it. Our curriculum allows the Riser to reflect, solve, create, grow and most importantly, think. The core elements of the Curriculum are as follows:
For optimal effectiveness of the entire teaching – learning process it is important that the time devoted to each subject is well planned. The syllabus designed for a particular academic year needs to be carefully distributed for successful learning to happen. Thus the team provides the schools with a period allocation plan that synchronizes completely with the syllabus laid.
Schools are provided with a syllabus for each grade and subject. The syllabus provides the teacher with the number of periods required to complete a particular lesson. The syllabus is planned keeping in mind the tentative number of working days that each school is expected to have in a single academic year. While formulating the syllabus care is taken to include sufficient time for revision of topics. The syllabus also accounts for the loss of teaching time over various events like the school annual day, sports day and other activities.
Teachers need to make wise decisions about the strategies and methods that they would apply to help learners understand & move systematically toward learner centric goals. Lesson planning is a vital component of the teaching-learning process. Proper classroom planning keeps teachers organized and on track while teaching. The better prepared the teacher is, the more likely he/she will be able to handle whatever unexpectedly happens in the lesson.
Assessment resources include Question Paper, Blue Print and Answer Schemes to these Question Papers.
Academic solutions also contain Practice Sheets / Question Banks and Revision Tests as per the requirement of each subject. These resources provide the needed revision and help to the Risers to prepare for their exams.
Every Riser achieves learning at their own pace. Some Risers pick up faster than the others, while some others require additional support. SSES provides resources that aid the teachers to provide additional support for Risers who require remediation. These resources are broadly in the form of worksheets on Literacy and Numeracy. These worksheets assist Risers to accomplish expected proficiencies in core academic skills.
Risers gather knowledge and its application through the core curriculum. However, in today’s time and generation certain basic skills of life can sometimes get ignored. We, at SSES Education Network believe in the holistic development of our Risers. Therefore, we focus not only on knowledge but also in the development of life skills among our Risers.
Our curriculum goes beyond academics through the Life skills modules that bring omivalues in life. Risers are taught basic skills appropriate for their age that help them in becoming independent and progressively move towards being helpful to others. By building social and emotional skills Risers are empowered to face challenges in life successfully. Risers learn to feel empathic and to establish and maintain positive relationships.
These modules are incorporated into the daily curriculum. The skills are imparted using kinesthetic activities and strategies like cooperative and collaborative learning, peer partner learning and team based learning.
SOF Olympiad for Risers is a benchmark test in G.K, English, Mathematics and Science. The Olympiad emanated from the goal to take academic competition to a level of excellence from where we could measure the strengths of our Risers and work in the direction of improvisation. It envisions the enhancement of the knowledge of the learners by providing a competitive platform, thus elevating the teaching – learning process. Learning happens when the Risers are actively engaged in the real academic sense. SOF Olympiad endeavours to promote the same.
We make sure it is the right person for the right job at all times.
At SSES, we believe that the most important aspect of a school is the quality of their faculty. History says that when a Riser is comfortable and having fun while learning, the Riser is able to grasp the subject much more efficiently. We make sure it is the right person for the right job at all times.
At Sainik School East Siang, a lot of attention is paid to each candidate before he or she is selected as a teacher. Among the qualities tested for are the attitudes, approach to teaching, and ability to deal with Risers, their thought process and their understanding of Riser psychology.
Furthermore, a thorough background check both via standard verification checks as well as our own, maintains the standard we prescribe for our teachers.
We have an on-going teacher development programme that makes sure our teachers are up-to-date with the trends, technologies, methodologies, best practices and breakthroughs in the field of education
Once a teacher is selected, they are put through a rigorous induction programme that trains them with both teaching methods and processes that are required at Sainik Schools. Annual teacher training workshops programme are carried out.
Furthermore, we have an on-going teacher development programme that makes sure our teachers are up-to-date with the trends, technologies, methodologies, best practices and breakthroughs in the field of education. Some of the highlights of our teacher training programme include:
This holistic combination gives SSES teachers the skill and the expertise in training the next generation for success.
At SSES, our teaching methodology expands beyond the boundaries of traditional board and chalk teaching to include technology and modern techniques wherever possible. To help Risers understand and visually relate to complex concepts, every classroom has been provided with projectors & visualisers. With the help of such technology we make sure our Risers have a firm grasp on the subject matter and are able to think in three-dimensional space.
The Sports Lab is aimed at developing fundamental skills such as focus, strategic thinking and leadership through the practice of sporting discipline.
Our ensemble of sporting activities include:-
Our skill development courses bridge the gap between curiosity and action, empowering our young learners with the ability to follow their passions
Our skill development courses bridge the gap between curiosity and action, empowering our young learners with the ability to follow their passions. A wide variety of holistic hobby classes are offered to our Risers such as:
